Using Dialog Corrections to Improve Speech Recognition

چکیده

We propose a preliminary method for automatically correcting errors in spoken dialogue systems1. Current spoken dialogue systems usually show a rather static and rigid behavior regarding recognition errors, therefore a feasible method of correcting system errors might be helpful to successfully support user requests. Moreover, a correction differs from non-correction prosodically [1]. Generally a user correction exhibits a greater prosodic difference the more distant it is from the initial error. In this case it is recognized more poorly, and it involves a longer human-machine interaction because this often leds to the same recognition errors. This paper will focus on methods to adapt the system using the error feedback provided by the user, and basically requires the adaptation of the language model.

Predicting Concept Types in User Corrections in Dialog

Most dialog systems explicitly confirm user-provided task-relevant concepts. User responses to these system confirmations (e.g. corrections, topic changes) may be misrecognized because they contain unrequested task-related concepts. In this paper, we propose a concept-specific language model adaptation strategy where the language model (LM) is adapted to the concept type(s) actually present in ...

Linguistically engineered tools for speech recognition error analysis

In order to improve Large Vocabulary Continuous Speech Recognition (LVCSR) systems, it is essential to discover exactly how our current systems are underperforming. The major intellectual tool for solving this problem is error analysis: careful investigation of just which factors are contributing to errors in the recognizers. This paper presents our observations of the effects that discourse (i...

Characterizing and Predicting Corrections in Spoken Dialogue Systems

This article focuses on the analysis and prediction of corrections, defined as turns where a user tries to correct a prior error made by a spoken dialogue system. We describe our labeling procedure of various corrections types and statistical analyses of their features in a corpus collected from a train information spoken dialogue system. We then present results of machinelearning experiments d...

A Voice Enabled Procedure Browser for the International Space Station

Clarissa, an experimental voice enabled procedure browser that has recently been deployed on the International Space Station (ISS), is to the best of our knowledge the first spoken dialog system in space. This paper gives background on the system and the ISS procedures, then discusses the research developed to address three key problems: grammarbased speech recognition using the Regulus toolkit...

Understanding Recognition Failures in Spoken Corrections in Human-computer Dialog

Miscommunication in speech recognition systems is unavoidable, but a detailed characterization of user corrections will enable speech systems to identify when a correction is taking place and to more accurately recognize the content of correction utterances. In this paper we investigate the adaptations of users when they encounter recognition errors in interactions with a voice-in/voice-out spo...
